Positive Behaviour Support
Qualifications:
In 2025, I completed a Certificate in Positive Behaviour Support: Autism Affirming Practice at the University of Melbourne, have previously received Positive
Behaviour Support training from the Institute of Applied Behavioural Analysis (IABA), and engaged in ASIST training, which provides adequate skills when working with individuals experiencing suicide ideation. In 2022, I completed my Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) degree at La Trobe University. I look forward to attending future workshops, conferences and training sessions to enhance my skills.
Experience:
I am a primary carer for my younger sibling, who is neurodivergent, having a broad understanding of the complexities and feelings associated with ensuring those who are unable to voice their feelings continue to be heard. I understand there are never two identical situations and how important it is to provide a holistic approach when working with others with complex needs. I have been able to put this experience into my work in PBS, being a Behaviour Support Practitioner between 2020-21 and have since returned to the role in 2024.
Specialisation:
Neurodivergent individuals with complex presentations of multiple diagnoses, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability and more. The mental health space is also something I am very passionate about, being able to align with clients and caregivers alike to identify the scope of support and create realistic goals when working collaboratively.
Achievements & Success Stories:
I graduated with first-class honours for my Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) degree in 2022.
Success Story:
I joined a care team struggling to build rapport with a client's primary caregiver. After a one-on-one meeting, I realised the formal approach felt overwhelming and impersonal. By adopting a more casual, collaborative style and focusing on shared successes, we quickly developed a meaningful rapport and improved support for the client.
