Experience:
1.5 years at MR2V, working within the disability sector throughout my academic studies since 2020.
Primary caregiver for my younger sibling for 20+ years, who has autism spectrum disorder (ASD) Level 3, an Intellectual Disability and has limited communication capacity. This has given me a broad understanding of the complexities and feelings associated with ensuring those who are unable to voice their feelings continue to be heard.
Engaged with clients of a wide age range, from primary school students, to people in their late 60's
Specialisation:
People with Intellectual Disability and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Neurodivergent individuals with complex presentations of multiple diagnoses, including ASD Intellectual Disability, and more.
Advocate for families to receive the support they need, and help them navigate various resources
Applying a person-centred approach and a high degree of empathy to formal/informal supportsĀ
Supporting individuals who have experienced inconsistencies in diagnoses and medication
Achievements:
I joined a care team struggling to build rapport with a primary caregiver. After a one-on-one meeting, I realised the formal approach felt overwhelming and impersonal. By adopting a more casual, collaborative style and focusing on shared successes, we quickly developed a meaningful rapport and improved support for the person.

"The great gift of human beings is that we have the power of empathy."
