Achievements:
Celebrated 5 years at My Right 2 Voice (commenced March, 2020)
Successfully removed and reduced numerous Restrictive Practices, supporting the rights and dignity of people with disability in accordance with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission guidelines
Built strong rapport with families, empowering them through education, advocacy, and ensuring their voices and lived experiences are valued in planning and support decisions
Secured increased NDIS funding for clients where appropriate, ensuring Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) funding aligns with each person’s level of need and promotes quality of life
Supported key life transitions for clients, including moves into new homes, new SIL providers, transitions from high school to day programs, or between educational settings, ensuring continuity and stability during times of change
Advocated for justice by supporting two clients through engagement with the Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT), both resulting in successful outcomes for the individuals involved
Provided psychoeducation to families and support workers, helping them understand their child’s diagnosis and behavioural needs, enabling more positive and informed support in their homes
Authored the ‘Personal Relationship Policy Post Services’ at My Right 2 Voice, recognising the social isolation faced by many clients and creating an ethical, choice-based framework for ongoing connection beyond paid services
Contributed to national policy change, with suggestions from my own Behaviour Support Plan (BSP) format reflected in Version 3 of the NDIS Commission BSP Template, highlighting practice leadership and innovation
Facilitated peer connections, linking clients with shared goals, backgrounds, and presentations to promote meaningful social interaction and reduce isolation
Onboarded new staff as part of my involvement of HR and Team Leader, ensuring their transition into the company was positive and supported
Provided practice leadership within the PBS Department and in collaboration with stakeholders, modelling high-quality, evidence-informed, holistic and person-centred practice
Driven systemic change, advocating for the rights and choices of people with disability and achieving outcomes that reflect their preferences, voices, and autonomy
Supported families experiencing domestic and family violence, developing safety plans and linking them with appropriate crisis and support services
Successfully ceased services from numerous client cases, as positive outcomes had been achieved and PBS input was no longer required, reflecting the success and development of supports provided
