Qualifications:

I have completed the Diploma of Community Services. I participate yearly in the Suicide Prevention Summit with Mental Health Academy. Currently, I am completing the Identifying and Responding to Family Violence Course (Maram Framework) with Kangan Institute and the Applied Positive Psychology micro-credential, also with Mental Health Academy. I have the view to continue my studies in the form of the Advanced Diploma of Community Sector Management after acquiring some more experience.

Experience:

I have worked in Community & Human Services sector for 3 years officially, with one year as a Support Coordinator & Psychosocial recovery coach. However, I have around 6 years of experience in total. I worked for 3 years at Charcoal Lane; a social enterprise restaurant run by Mission Australia. We trained and mentored Aboriginal, Indigenous, and at-risk youth. With approximately 40 youths off the streets and entering the program each year.


I then commenced the Diploma of Community Services while concurrently working as a disability support worker. Once I completed my Diploma, I was promoted to Support Coordinator and Psychosocial Recovery Coach.


The range of clients that I have worked with both as a support worker and coordinator are people with complex mental health issues such as being on the Autism Spectrum, Developmental Delay, ABI, Dementia, BPD, Schizo-Affective Disorders and other comorbidities (AOD), First Nations people, Care team for Juvenile Offenders and those still incarcerated and on the NDIS. I have also worked with clients on the Redress Scheme, both as victims and perpetrators and clients in S.I.L.


On a personal level, I have lived experience with Victims of Suicide, Deafness, Cancer, Children who are Autistic (non-verbal), Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS), POTS and chronic pain management.


Specialization:

I have completed the Understanding Dementia MOOC from the Wicking Dementia Centre at the University of Tasmania. I am a registered Mental Health First Aider who also participates in the Suicide Prevention Summit held annually.


My substantial area(s) of interest are in Mental Health, Disability Housing, Family Violence, working with First Nation people and the Youth Justice System, where my current long-term view of specialisation resides.


Achievements:

Employee Recognition Award with Statewide Health and Human Services for working in the height of Covid-19 restrictions and providing services to clients during this time, safely and successfully.
